Slaves, local food and diving..

This time I'm in an English mood just so you know..

Well a few things happened since I wrote the last time. We were in Stonetown on wednesday to see the slavemarket and some slavecages. After an extremely bumpy busride to the slavecages we climbed down into the dark to what was basically just caves and god a very good feeling and picture of how horrible it must have been to live in them and even without light. There was a tale of a 2 m long python. It is supposed to be full of knowledge but I'm glad to say that although I'm not much wiser after the trip I'm still alive!

After the caves we went to the slavemarket. Again we were all amazed at how many people they were able to squash into a few tiny cells. There is church built right on top of where the actual slavemarket used to be. We had a guide who showed us around both outside and inside the church. It was actually a funny feeling to go inside the church. Because everything is so different down here from I'm used to I actually felt very at home and almost comfy when we were inside the church.

We also had lunch in a very local place in Stonetown. A few of the plates were cracked and it was basically just rice with a lupm of stringy meat placed in the middle. Well, I crossed my fingers that I wouldn't be experiencing my first dose of extreme diahrrea on the way home. Luckily it didn't come to that. :)

After that we went back to Paje and luckily I made it to the shower before all the water was gone! I've never felt so dirty in my life!

Yesterday I was at my first diving-lesson and it went really well. Of course I had to get used to breathing under water but after about half an hour I actually got pretty used to it. It's a Swede called Lisa and an English bloke called Graham who's doing the course with us and they are very nice both of them! Graham said that actually it's the fist 2-3 m that are the worst when going down so hopefully everything will contyinue to go as smooth as it did yesterday!

Majken and I have dropped kite-surfing (though not for your sake Jakob, even though you think windsurfing is the only right thing compared to kite). We've got too many plans all of a sudden and kite has been postponed because of the weather.

I'm looking forward to the weekend! It's so much hard work down here.. ;) Half of the group are going up north but I'm staying and tomorrow we're going on a Blue safari. We're going to sail to a few islands and have lunch there. Them we're going snorkling and there's a place where it might be possibl to see dolphins. Anyway, if we don't wee any we're goint to leave early one morning and go to a place where we can swim with them! I'll see if I acn get some pictures for you Laura.. ;)

I think that's all for now. Hope everybody is doing well at home!
